Professor (Dr) Julia Verne BSc, MB BS, MSc, PhD (Epidemiology, London), PhD (Bioethics, Krakow), Doctor Hons. Causa (Business and Law, UWE), FFPH
Julia a Public Health Consultant with a deep and enduring interest in improving palliative and end of life care (P&EOLC) and bereavement support for the population, particularly tackling inequalities in access and unwarranted variation in service quality and delivery. She founded the National End of Life Intelligence Network for England in 2010 and since 1995 has worked in International, National, Regional and Local Capacities on P&EOLC from a public health perspective. In addition to her medical degree, she has a PhD in Epidemiology from the University of London, PhD in Bioethics from the University of Krakow and Doctor Honoris Causa in Business and Law from the University of the West of England. She has been until recently lead for Clinical Epidemiology in OHID at the Department of Health and Social Care. Her team produced the first Atlas of Variation in Palliative and End of Life Care for England and a wide range of indicators. She has been a member of National Steering Groups and Committees to drive improvements in Palliative care for the past 15 years and a number of academic collaborations. She was external advisor to the Georgian Government on development of Palliative Care. She has more than 100 Peer review publications, many on palliative and end of life.
