Dr. Josephine Dlugopolski-Gach was born in the “Podhale” region of Poland and emigrated to the United States at the age of five. As a child, she often translated at the doctor’s office because there was a lack of Polish-speaking physicians and this inspired her to become a doctor in order to serve the Polish community in Chicago.
Dr. Josephine Dlugopolski-Gach is board certified in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. She has worked at Loyola University Medical Center since 2005 and is the Regional Medical Director of Primary Care. She is an Associate Professor at Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine and spends time teaching students and residents. Dr. Dlugopolski-Gach is the physician liaison for the Medical Polish elective at the Stritch School of Medicine. This is the only Medical Polish elective at a medical school in the country. Polish medical students teach their peers about the Polish culture and language.
Dr. Dlugopolski-Gach is very proud of her Polish roots. She is extremely involved in various community outreach projects and often asked to be a medical expert on the news and radio stations. She has served as a board member of the Polish American Medical Society for many years and was recently elected as the President. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her 3 children and doing outdoor recreational activities.
